MonaLisa Touch Q & A
What is MonaLisa Touch?
MonaLisa Touch is a gynecological laser that uses gentle light energy to improve vaginal health and alleviate common vaginal symptoms and discomfort.
The gentle energy targets the vaginal tissue and stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen is a structural protein that keeps the vaginal tissue strong and elastic.
The energy from the MonaLisa Touch tool also increases blood circulation to the tissue to support health and healing and improve moisture.
At Arizona Women's Care, a physician always performs the treatment, and each treatment is tailored to the patient's needs.
Am I a candidate for MonaLisa Touch?
The team determines if you would benefit from MonaLisa Touch treatments after a consultation. You should contact Arizona Women's Care if you’re looking for a non-hormonal solution to treat your:
- Vaginal dryness
- Vaginal burning or itching
- Vaginal laxity
- Urinary incontinence
Though you may find these symptoms difficult to discuss, they’re not uncommon. The team can help you get the treatment you need to alleviate these symptoms and improve vaginal health.
What happens during treatment with MonaLisa Touch?
MonaLisa Touch is a quick in-office treatment. Your provider has you lie on your back with your knees up during your session, similar to your annual pelvic exam. You may be pretreated with a topical lidocaine to reduce tenderness.
Your provider inserts that MonaLisa Touch laser wand into your vagina and starts treatment. You shouldn’t feel any pain during your MonaLisa Touch session, though you may feel a gentle warming sensation.
Treatment only takes 5 minutes, and you can resume your regular day afterward. However, the team recommends you refrain from vaginal intercourse for up to three days following your treatment.
Side effects are minimal, but you may have some redness and swelling after your session.
How many MonaLisa Touch treatments do I need?
The team Arizona Women's Care determines the number of needed MonaLisa Touch sessions during your consultation. Most women should have 1-3 treatments set at 6-8 week intervals.
To maintain vaginal health, the team may recommend you continue your MonaLisa Touch treatments annually. Though results vary, many women experience improved vaginal symptoms and overall well-being after completing their MonaLisa Touch treatments.
Vaginal discomfort isn’t normal. Call Arizona Women's Care or book an appointment online today to see how treatment with MonaLisa Touch can help.
