After finishing her undergraduate education, Dr. Helms earned her medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada. She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, for her residency training at Maricopa Medical Center, where she served as chief medical resident in her final year. Afterward, she completed a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Throughout her education and career, Dr. Helms has explored a diverse variety of research interests, including robotic surgery, hepatitis B in pregnant women, and gonorrhea. She has also published and presented a video titled “Critical Considerations for the Vaginal Trachelectomy.”
Currently, Dr. Helms is an active member of the American Medical Association and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a central representative of the Phoenix OB/GYN Society.
At Arizona Women’s Care, Dr. Helms frequently performs minimally invasive surgeries to treat complications like fibroids and endometriosis. She also provides patients with services like annual well-woman exams and birth control counseling.
