Arizona Women’s Care Surgery
“You need a hysterectomy.”
That sometimes sounds like a scary thing to have a doctor say to you. You start to wonder about surgery procedures, recovery time, pain involved and all that goes along with the surgery. At Arizona Women’s Care we have options and we have answers.
Arizona Women’s Care is at the leading edge of women’s surgical procedures with a new technique called Single Site da Vinci® Minimally Invasive Surgery as well as continuing traditional laproscopic DaVinci Hysterectomy.
Imagine having surgery that only requires an incision of less than an inch!
da Vinci® Minimally Invasive Surgery
This is a new technique that only the most advanced of women’s care doctors offer. Using robotic-assisted techniques, the surgeon can perform procedures on a patient with smaller incisions than even some laparoscopic surgery. This state of the art surgery can be done with one small 2 cm incision in the belly button, which we call Single Site Hysterectomy, or through 3 or 4 small 1 cm incisions in the lower abdominal area which is the original da Vinci® procedure.
For Single Site Hysterectomy this means:
- Virtually no scar
- Fast recovery time
- Reduced complications
- Short hospital stay
- Lower hospitalization costs
- Minimal pain
- Less pain medication
- Low blood loss
Single site hysterectomy can remove the entire uterus with or without the tubes and ovaries through one small 2 cm incision in the belly button!
- Single-site hysterectomy is the newest and most cosmetically appealing way of removing the uterus that there has ever been.
- To qualify for a single-site hysterectomy, you must have a BMI of between 18 and 24.9 and your uterus cannot be too enlarged.
This is a new technique, not every medical center can offer da Vinci® surgery. However, we have doctors fully-trained in this technique and a state of the art hospital that can accommodate them.
We are so proud that the least invasive procedure has an added cosmetic benefit for our patients. A single incision and virtually no scar!
The da Vinci® minimally invasive surgery technique whether it is single site or original multi port, is suitable for not only a hysterectomy, but also a bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy, removing both tubes and ovaries, or a myomectomy of any size, the removal of fibroids from the uterus.
A video on our home page helps explain how the robotic components are involved in the operating room. However, a quick summary of the procedure would be the following: the surgeon sits at a console, viewing a 3-D, high-definition image of the patient’s anatomy. The surgeon uses controls below the viewer to move the instrument arms and camera. In real-time, the system translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into more precise movements of the miniaturized instruments inside the patient.
Arizona Women’s care also provides other advanced traditional surgeries such as:
- Vaginal hysterectomy
- Abdominal hysterectomy
- Open Myomectomy
- Ovarian cystectomy
- Ablation of endometriosis
- Tubal ligations
- Cold knife Conization
We also offer in-office procedures for surgical care that does not require a hospital stay. For all procedures performed under anesthesia, we use light IV sedation with a board-certified anesthesiologist. These include:
I. Light Anesthesia
b. Dilation and Currettage
c. Uterine polypectomy (polyp removal)
d. Novasure ablation
e. Vulvar biopsies
II. No Anesthesia (Though you do have the option to add it)
a. LEEP (loop electrical excision procedure)
c. Endometrial biopsy
d. IUD insertion or removal
