Our Doctors

Dr. Julie Anne Castilla, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. was one of 44 students chosen for Inteflex, and accelerated seven year premedical-medical program. She graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science and in 1993 she received her Doctorate of Medicine, both from the University of Michigan. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix in 1997. Dr. Castilla’s areas of interest include infertility and high risk obstetrics, she is fluent in Spanish and takes pride in guiding all women through their annual exams.



Dr. Julie Baskin Kwatra, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Duke University in June 1991. She also received her Doctorate of Medicine from Ohio State University in 1995. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in 1999. Dr. Kwatra’s special areas of interest include high-risk obstetrics, pelvic support surgery, minimally invasive surgery including the use of the DaVinci Robotic system and adolescent medicine. She was the first gynecologist in Scottsdale trained on the Da Vinci robotic operating system which enables complex surgeries to be accomplished through tiny surgical openings.


Dr. Ann Langer, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1993. She also received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1997 from Creighton University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in 2001. Dr. Langer is fluent in Spanish, enjoys all gynecologic surgery and sees patients of all ages with a special interest in young adolescent females as well as assisting couples with infertility.




Dr. JulieAnn Heathcott, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tulane University in 1992. She also received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1997 from St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in 2001. Dr. Heathcott’s special areas of interest include routine obstetrics, minimally invasive hysteroscopic and the very difficult as well as routine laparoscopic surgery which can be accomplished with the latest DaVinci Robotic technology.



Dr. Diane Hlavacek M.D., F.A.C.O.G. graduated from Michigan State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology with a Specialization in Health and Humanities. She then received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1999, also from Michigan State University. She completed her residency in 2003 at the Phoenix Integrated Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hlavaceks special areas of interest include the complete obstetric care from beginning to end as well as in office annual gynecologic care.
